University of Glasgow: Internationally recognised for sociological
research, the School of Social and Political Science makes a significant contribution to academic and policy debates in topics such as disability, criminology and gender.A concern to understand historical and contemporary forms of inequality is common to much of this research, and we have strong academic links with the Strathclyde Centre for Disability Research, focusing particularly on disability and childhood, and with the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, primarily through the Social Relationships and Health Improvement programme, which studies the dynamic, interactive processes through which our relationships influence health and wellbeing. Other successful collaborations have been with researchers working on gender-based violence, family law and with Economic and Social History working on working-class families and marriage. |
